Catching up

November 27, 2007

Wow, time flies when you have three kids!!  We had a great Thanksgiving… though the diet went OUT THE WINDOW for the whole week!  In the words of my husband “It would not have been a successful Thanksgiving if I didn’t gain back 3 lbs!”  So I’m back on the wagon this week…

Besides eating myself to sleep every day for a week, I also had time to reflect.  Those who know us know that we’ve had a rough year.  Some days it was hard to remember what we were thankful for… but I made a point of acknowledging the little things, which are really not that little after all.

I’m thankful for everyone who has supported us this year.  With out the love of our families I don’t know where we would be.  Just knowing that our families have been there for us lean on has made all the difference in the world.

I’m thankful for our friends.  We really have some amazing friendships and I’m so blessed to be able to call on them for a laugh!

I’m also very thankful for my kids.  They have been through allot with us.  Although I don’t know if THEY know how much they’ve been through, they’ve been real troopers.  We’ve done a lot of house switching in the past few years and their lives have been flip flopped and turned upside down too many times.  Marcus and I love them with everything in us and we are so lucky to have them.

Last but not least- I’m thankful for the lessons that we have learned.  Just when I think it can’t get any worse, it does and my husband reminds me to look for the lesson.  We have been taught many lessons this year, but we are confident that these hard times are going to make us better.  We WILL be able to get through this.  I know this.  So, even though it sounds crazy, thank you to God for the most difficult year we’ve had yet.

My third baby

November 12, 2007

On Friday night my mom took our older two kiddos for a sleep over.  They had so much fun!!  They came home talking about the root beer floats they ate at 10pm!  I can’t even believe they were up at that hour… much less eating ice cream.  But ok.

So Marcus and I took Zach to a New Caney Highschool football game.  We rarely get to spend time with just the baby so it was nice!  We were out side, which he seemed to love and it was beautiful weather!  He was really good all night… until we got in the car.  He cried all the way home.  Poor baby.  But here is a quick picture of him at the game enjoying being an only child for 3 hours!  :)

PS.  Debra, How do I make this bigger??????

Tonight was poker night at the Sisney home.  And the stakes were high.  Who ever wins gets a free cheat on the diet (a piece of Halloween candy!)…. and the loser must wash bottles!  The game lasted about 2 hours and I must admit… I bluffed my way through quite a few hands!  Near the end, I was up by quite a few chips so I decided to call a rather large bet that Marcus made… and I WON!!!  I took all of his chips and headed for the HUGE bag of candy left over from last Wednesday night.  Sadly, I could not find a piece of candy worth cheating for… but I sure did enjoy watching Marcus get those bottles clean for a night of feeding.

I really enjoy our poker nights.  We joke and laugh with each other and although it seems like an odd way to connect with ones spouse… It really does it for me.  We normally share a bottle of wine while playing (but we can’t have those extra calories now can we??).  In keeping with the general theme of November thankfulness… Can I just say- I love my husband.   I am blessed beyond words to have him.

Day three

November 7, 2007

OK… so it is getting a little better.  I am on day three!  Wooo hoo!  Yesterday was rough.  Poor Marcus.  I think he would really like for me to eat some sugar.  Should have seen me tear into him for making a comment about how unorganized ”my” fridge is!  “This is not MY refrigerator.  It belongs to BOTH of us and if anyone is unhappy with the way it’s organized HE should clean it!!!!!!”  He just stared at me for about 5 seconds and then he began to laugh at me.  Which made me laugh.  I ate three apricots after that and got a little sugar rush!  Never thought I’d see the day when APRICOTS would give me a rush!!!  On the bright side….. I have lost some weight already!  After only 3 days on the diet, I am down 4 lbs!  Surely that will not continue and may not be a true loss… more of a water loss- but I will take it and run!  (actually, I don’t have the energy to run.)

Detox

November 7, 2007

This was actually written on Nov 5th…

So I’ve decided that after 3 months, it is time for me to lose my baby weight.  I have held onto 10 lbs of it.  This is a first for me.  I lost my weight pretty easily with both of my other two children but everything about Zach has been different!  From the morning sickness to the marathon labor to the 5 hour scream-fests… he wants to be the last baby.  AND HE WILL BE!!

So… Marcus and I started a diet today.  I hate to diet.  I really really do. This diet is a “detox” diet and is designed to detox the liver…

I love sugar.  It is my best friend and I really really miss it.  How in the world am I ever going to go on without it??  Anyway, the diet calls for NO bread, sugar, or caffeine.  Oh. My. Gosh.  On the bright side… I really can’t wait to walk into my closet and pull out ANY thing in there and put it on.  I should post some before and afters….  Maybe that will really motivate me?  It has been a looonnng 8 hours with no sugar.   Yes, that is right.  It’s only been 8 hours.

peer pressure

I caved.  I’m entering the blogging world … reluctantly, since I am not much of a writer.  But… here I am!!  We will see how it goes!
